My first private project as an Architect and a cornerstone of my career. My clients asked me to design a family farmhouse for them and their three daughters on a beautiful property along the Delaware River in Holland Township, New Jersey. They envisioned a traditional design with the appearance of an assemblage of structures that had been added onto over time. We began with the iconic farmhouse with a large veranda and screened porch. A mudroom connects the farmhouse to the garage and saltbox-style workshop building in the rear, and functions as the primary entry, where the presence of boots, coats and scarves attests to the day to day life of the family. Cricket Farm has been the setting for family gatherings, new generations, and the seasons ever since.
